Another soup kitchen for the poor in Penang

Penang Chief Minister, Lim Guan Eng officially launched a soup kitchen located at 16 Halaman Arffin, Penang.

Starting in January 2010 with just fifteen packets of food, Kechara Soup Kitchen (KSK) in Penang was initiated by Patsy Gooi, a long-time student of His Eminence Tsem Tulku Rinpoche and the outlet manager of Kechara Paradise Penang. Undeterred by this modest start, Patsy went the extra mile to look for more homeless clients on the streets of Georgetown.

Last Train to Penang Hill

Penang Hill's iconic funicular train will make it's last run today after 87 years. The red Swiss made funicular trains will be replaced by a RM 63 million upgraded system, which is expected to be completed in September 2010.

CJ Jimmy Leow spoke to some of the foothill station traders and some expressed dismay at the lost of business but some said that they are looking forward to better facilities and increase of visitors once the upgrade system is in place.
