Penang Green Expo 2012
People are becoming much more eco-friendly and environmentally conscious these days. Through education and awareness campaigns, going green not only saves cost, but also serves as an effective added-value edge and branding strategy. The Penang Green Expo aims to provide a lively and creative platform for traders to promote their businesses and organization.
Objectives:
(1) To create awareness and educate the general public about the importance of utilizing resources in a sustainable way.
(2) To create an ideal space for the exchange of information on environmental programs, policies, products and technologies.
Pakar teknikal siasat tanah runtuh Green Garden
Penang Chief Minister, Lim Guan Eng had a meeting with related authorities with regards to the erosion issue at Green Garden Apartments at Paya Terubong yesterday.
Lim ensured that an independent investigation will be carried as experts in the field are flown in from Kuala Lumpur.
Residents had a shock of their lives after rainwater burst through the wall beneath the 26-storey Green Garden Apartments on Thursday.
The gushing water washed away the soil and gravel from beneath the building, which is located on Jalan Paya Terubong here, and left a tractor-sized hole.
Investigations showed that a retention pond built beneath the building was clogged with rubbish, causing the water to overflow before bursting through the wall.
3500 riders Campaign For A Lane
It's the fourth year back to back, CFAL one of the most anticipated ride in Penang was held last weekend and as expected, it has brought together cyclists from all disciplines to campaign for a bicycle lane around Penang.
Cyclists from all over the country arrived at The Esplanade also know as Padang Kota Lama to support this meaningful event.
Plans for bicycle lane around Penang are being approved, meanwhile works are being done with strong support and funding CIMB Foundation.

Kerjaan negeri Pulau Pinang serah tapak tanah kepada sekolah tamil
Kerajaan Negeri Pulau Pinang menyerah tapak tanah seluas 2.3 ekar kepada SJKT Subramaniya Barathee pagi ini oleh Ketua menteri Pulau Pinang, Lim Guan Eng.
Pihak Kerajaan Negeri menbuat keputusan untuk memberi tapak baru ini kerana didapati sebilangan penduduk kawasan ini telah membantah pembinaan sekolah di atas tapak asalnya yang berukuran 0.9 ekar shaja.
Developer withdraws eviction letter with immediate effect
Erakemas Sdn Bhd, the developer who issued the eviction order to 22 villagers at Batu Uban on Aug 16 has withdrawn the letter with immediate effect after negotiation with the state government at KOMTAR this morning.
Penang Chief Minister, Lim Guan Eng urged the developer to return to the negotiation table and discuss further with the villagers involved.
Remarks spun to upset PKR DAP ties
PKR Penang chief Mansor Othman says the blog posting about a PKR meeting, where Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng was said to have been called arrogant, was deliberately spun to portray poor ties between PKR and DAP.
Withdraw eviction order or get blacklisted
"Withdraw eviction order or get blacklisted", that's the stern message conveyed by Penang Chief Minister, Lim Guan Eng to a developer in Penang. Lim said the developer has been very insensitive towards the Kg Batu Uban villagers when the developer's lawyer sent eviction orders during the Hari Raya festival.
It is learnt that the developer had purchased the land from several owners and is planning to construct two blocks of condominium, 33 level high housing 200 units valued at RM390,000 and above.
According to the lawyer's letter dated Aug 16, the villagers have to move out of their homes in 14 days, failing which the developer will initiate legal action against them.
Penang welcome world largest commercial air freighter
Penang Chief Minister, Lim Guan Eng welcomes Cathay Pacific Airways' new Boeing 747-8 Freighter this afternoon at the Penang International Airport.
Commenting on the state of the art aircraft's arrival in Penang, Cathay Pacific Country Manager, Mandy Wu said, "Cathay Pacific has worked and grown together with the Malaysian market for the past 55 years and cargo is an important part of our business."
The new Boeing 747-8 Freighter will greatly improve the efficiency and payload of Cathay Pacific's ultra long haul freighter services, particularly on North America routes, and at the same time reduce the environmental impact of its operations.
Kg Boundary Lima: "PM, we need your help"
Kg Boundary Lima resident association president, Santok Singh urged Prime Minister Najib Razak to help the affected residents as the date of eviction draws near.
Their homes, on a four-acre land acquired by a developer some 10 years ago, are to be demolished to pave the way for three-storey bungalow units.
Santok claimed that their problems started in 2003 when their properties were sold and transferred to developers.
Despite all the efforts to stop the developer through the court, the developer is keen to proceed with the eviction.

LGE: "Kami tidak gentar saman lah"
Penang Chief Minister, Lim Guan Eng said that state is not afraid of being sued by UMNO over a statement on the sale of a plot land in Balik Pulau during a press conference at KOMTAR this afternoon.
The said plot was bought by UMNO party leaders Omar Fuadzar and Musa Sheikh Fadzir from 32 Malay landowners in Kampung Terang, Penang.
It was reported that they had earned RM 5 million as brokers in the sale of a plot of land in Balik Pulau.
Lim said that the huge profit should be shared among the 31 Malay land owners.
